About Us
Afterburner Solutions specializes in accelerating and increasing sales and profitability through the use of “best practices” solutions.  The combined 60 years of experience in high tech selling, P&L management, Sales management, Operations management, and Channel involvement of the two principals, Warren Mills and Phil Shumway, have resulted in research on the best possible solutions for businesses in many areas. 

We represent only value add solutions in the areas of hardware, software, and training services, and endeavor to develop manufacturer relationships that meet the highest level of scrutiny in the marketplace. 

Warren Mills

Warren Mills is a business professional with a 30-year career in sales, management, strategic business development, and corporate leadership.  Having owned and operated a computer dealership for many years, his expertise in P&L, operational issues, marketing, and channel development covers a wide span of business experiences and expertise. 

He was recruited by MicroAge, Inc., as President of the MicroAge Solutions division and he was responsible for growing sales from $25 million to $350 million in just 5 years.  He also developed national channel relationships and secured key commitments from key Fortune 100 computer manufacturers to expand channel capabilities and grow market share.  His leadership resulted in over 400 new VAR relationships for IBM Corporation.  As Senior VP of Sales, he supervised both inside and outside sales reps, enabling MicroAge to reach Fortune 500 status, and become one of the top computer distributors in the United States.

As CEO of a private software company specializing in integrated decision analysis for large IT projects in the public and private sectors and higher education, he led two private placements raising over $1 million in capital.  He built a company from zero revenue to $8 million annualized in only 18 months.  In that capacity, he developed key relationships with companies such as Bearing Point and AMS.

Warren is well versed in Internet-based business strategy.  As VP of Sales for an online jewelry company, he hired and developed inside sales and customer service teams and launched an successful online affiliate program.  He also has extensive expertise in CRM applications, having served as VP of Sales for a private CRM company.  Warren is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, and was as decorated officer in the United States Air Force for six years.  He is married with two grown children

Philip R. Shumway

Phil Shumway is a seasoned business executive and sales leader who specializes in improving productivity and profitability in businesses of all sizes through management, leadership, and sales training and development. 

His background is comprised of over 25 years in sales, sales management, and operations management in small, medium and Fortune 100 companies.  Following a 10-year active duty United States Air Force career spent in F-4 squadrons and as an instructor pilot in the T-38, his business career began in high tech with field sales and marketing positions at Computer Sciences Corporation and Sperry Flight Systems. 

He spent 12 years with Apple Computer, serving as Director of Sales for multiple states, National Sales Director for a key distributor, and Director of Sales Operations for the U.S. from 1993 to 1996 for 3 of Apple’s 4 business divisions, supporting growth to over $8 billion in sales. Phil was responsible for starting a channel sales division at Unisys Corporation and was recruited as CEO of a small software company Vitrix (Time America), where he participated in taking the company public via a reverse merger. 

He served as Vice President Sales / Western U. S. for Fujitsu Computer Systems, Inc., for 6 years growing revenue of mobile and enterprise level server products to over $50 million.  He has also served as President of Management Productivity Group, LLC., an Arizona company specializing in management and leadership training.

Phil received his undergraduate degree in Business Management from Bowling Green State University, and his MBA from the University of Northern Colorado.  He is a retired Lt. Col, USAFR, currently serves as the President of the Board of Directors for the Child Crisis Center, greater Phoenix, where he has served for 7 years.  He is married, with two grown children
